Managing Install Media

Below are guides to setting up Ubermix install keys and BIOS upgrade keys. Please read all instructions before proceeding. If done incorrectly, you could render the USB key unusable.

Warning

Use a working Ubermix system to perform these steps!


Ubermix Install Key

  1. Download the latest Ubermix version.

  2. Plug in a USB flashdrive at least 8GB in size

  3. Navigate to the “Applications” menu and open “Terminal”

  4. Enter the following command:

    sudo fdisk -l
    

    Example Output:

    Disk /dev/sdb: 7.5 GiB, 8004304896 bytes, 15633408 sectors
    Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    Disklabel type: dos
    Disk identifier: 0x000d301d
    
  5. Enter the following command substituting X for the USB’s drive letter (b in the above example):

    sudo umount /dev/sdX
    
  6. Enter the following command substituting X for the same drive letter as before:

    sudo dd if=~/Downloads/lvuber403lv2.img of=/dev/sdX
    

BIOS Upgrade Key

  1. Download the latest BIOS key image.

  2. Plug in a USB flashdrive at least 2GB in size

  3. Navigate to the “Applications” menu and open “Terminal”

  4. Enter the following command:

    sudo fdisk -l
    

    Example Output:

    Disk /dev/sdb: 7.5 GiB, 8004304896 bytes, 15633408 sectors
    Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    Disklabel type: dos
    Disk identifier: 0x000d301d
    
  5. Enter the following command substituting X for the USB’s drive letter (b in the above example):

    sudo umount /dev/sdX
    
  6. Enter the following command substituting X for the same drive letter as before:

    sudo dd if=~/Downloads/BIOS.img of=/dev/sdX
    

Note

This will work on any computer (ie. Mac, Windows, or Linux)

Update BIOS Files

  1. Download the latest BIOS for the required system here.
  2. Plug in a BIOS USB key
  3. Navigate to “Files” and open two windows (File > New Window)
    1. In one window navigate to the BIOS flashdrive (should be called “Lazesoft”)
    2. In the other window navigate to your “Downloads”
  4. Unzip the latest BIOS .zip file
    1. Right-click the .zip file and click “Extract Here” in the menu
  5. Drag & Drop the new BIOS .exe file from “Downloads” to the BIOS flashdrive
  6. Click the eject button to safely remove the USB drive
