General Troubleshooting

Below is a collection of common issue categories and steps to follow to resolve them. If all possible solutions have failed to fix the issue, update the UMC ticket and send the unit to the District Office for repair. Only do this after also attempting a Factory Reset, if possible.


  1. Perform a Factory Reset

  2. Plug the system in and check for charge lights

    1. If no lights turn on, unplug charger from wall, then plug back in

  3. Press the power button

  4. Open “Power Statistics” via Activities > Administration > Power Statistics

  5. Click on “Laptop battery”

  6. Replace battery if “Energy when full” is not within 75%(B117) or 90%(B118) of “Energy (design)”

  7. Open the laptop and check to make sure the battery connector is plugged in fully


  1. Correct BIOS Settings

  2. Clean the trackpad

  3. If the trackpad doesn’t work at all, press Fn + F7 (hardware trackpad lock)

  4. Perform a Factory Reset

  5. Reinstall Ubermix with install key (Do not use option 4 if you want to retain user files)

  6. Unscrew the bottom cover and check all connections to trackpad and screws

  7. Replace trackpad


  1. Turn system off

  2. Remove the LCD bezel & LCD panel

  3. Unplug and replug the LCD connector

  4. Power on device

    1. If the display turns on reassemble the system

    2. If the display does not turn on, check the LCD cable on the mainboard

    3. If that fails, replace the LCD

  5. Look for signs of physical damage to determine if the repair is covered by the warranty


  1. Perform a Factory Reset

  2. Install/Update Ubermix

    1. If the console displays errors, such as a “kernel panic”, “sata error”, or “i/o error”, the issue is either the HDD/SSD or the mainboard.

  3. Check HDD/SSD connection to mainboard



Simple key replacements are not chargeable repairs if the dome is still intact.

  1. Check for liquid spill

  2. Check ribbon cable

  3. Check rubber dome(s)

  4. Check plastic clips
