Staff iPad Setup

Step 1: Apple ID

  1. You need to have an Apple ID associated with your District email account. If you already have one, proceed to step 2.
  2. If you do not have an Apple ID linked to your school email, you should create one online before setting up your iPad. Go to https://appleid.apple.com/account and follow the steps to create an Apple ID. Set up your security questions and enter your real birthday. You may use your personal email address or the email address of another teacher as your rescue email if you want to include one, and you may also use the school address as your mailing address.
  3. Apple will send you an email asking you to verify your email address. Click on the link in the verify email before proceeding to your iPad set up.

Step 2: Initial iPad set up

  1. If the iPad is off, turn it on by pressing and holding the button at the top until you see the Apple logo. Wait until you see the “Hello” Screen. Slide in the direction of the arrow and select English as your language, then United States.
  2. Once you are at the “Choose a Wi-Fi Network” screen, please select the network titled “LVUSD”.
  3. It will ask for a username and password:
    1. Your username is the first part of your district email address: mnemirovsky@lvusd.org (Only mnemirovsky is used, in this example.)
    2. Your password is your current email password.
  4. Accept the terms. Press Done.
  5. Click Next to continue setting up your iPad. You will see a message that your iPad will be automatically configured. Click Next again.
  6. Log in to AirWatch using your LVUSD username (without the @lvusd.org) and password. Tap Get Started to begin using your iPad.

*IMPORTANT: Be sure you DO NOT ENABLE “FIND MY IPAD.” If your iPad is lost and needs to be located, AirWatch can do it.*

Student iPad Setup

Step 1: Initial iPad set up

  1. If the iPad is off, turn it on by pressing and holding the button at the top until you see the Apple logo. Wait until you see the “Hello” Screen. Slide in the direction of the arrow and select English as your language, then United States.
  2. Select “LVUSD-Guest” as your Wi-Fi Network. (It will change to the LVUSD-devices network automatically after the iPad set up is completed).
  3. Accept the terms. Press Done.
  4. Click Next to continue setting up your iPad. You will see a message that your iPad will be automatically configured. Click Next again.
  5. Log in to AirWatch: Enter your school’s student iPad AirWatch credentials. Press Next. You will see a message telling you your iPad is being configured.
  6. Apple ID: Skip this step for now. Confirm that you wish to skip when you see the warning message. (This will prevent iCloud from being activated on your device).
  7. When prompted for a passcode, we recommend not setting one, however you may do so if you wish, just be sure to take note of what it is.
  8. Tap Get Started to begin using your iPad.

*IMPORTANT: Be sure you DO NOT ENABLE “FIND MY IPAD.” If your iPad is lost and needs to be located, AirWatch can do it.*

Step 2: Downloading Assigned Apps

  1. Apps that are assigned to your device should automatically appear. If you don’t see them, they can be downloaded from the LVUSD App Catalog *(NOT the Apple App Store)*. Note that there are TWO icons for this app. Use either one.
  2. To download apps, open the App Catalog app. Click the Install button to install the apps you want.
  3. The first time you download an app from the LVUSD App Catalog app, you may be asked to accept the invitation to register with the Managed Distribution program. Click “Accept Invite.”
    1. You may need to enter your Apple ID password again.
    2. Scroll down and agree to the terms and conditions.
    3. Go back to the App Catalog and select the app you wanted. This time it will download.
  4. Tap the Home button to go back to the home screen. You may rearrange the installed apps any way you wish. If there are automatically installed apps you will not currently be using, we recommend putting them in a folder rather than deleting them. (If you delete them, AirWatch will keep trying to reinstall them).
